Write For Us

Ballers On Budgets’ popularity has put us in demand for more writers. To write for us, you don’t have to be an expert in personal finance nor a wordsmith. The only requirement is that you have a passion for researching and writing factual, engaging content.

Writing Style

Every article must be written in third person, preferably with at least one original quote. No first person point of view stories will be accepted. If you are an expert on a subject, great. Give the reader the information in a straight forward manner and present it as fact without self-promotion. You will be given a paragraph at the end of each piece to promote your services and products, if applicable.

Feel free to promote the expertise of the person you interviewed within the context of the article in order to add validity to their claims. With little effort, you can find experts willing to share what they know using online services such as Help A Reporter Out and News Certified Exchange. If you do not use a quoted source, ensure you include the sources of your knowledge. Each article should be at least 400 words and no more than 800 words. We reserve the right to edit your articles for grammar, syntax, etc.

Videos and Graphics

We will accept videos and infographics as long as they incorporate one of the seven dimensions of personal finance.

We are looking for any article written on the seven dimensions of personal finance.

1) Earning
2) Spending
3) Borrowing
4) Saving
5) Investing
6) Taxes
7) Risk Management

Using these seven dimensions as a guideline you can virtually write about anything. Everything about life falls within one of these dimensions and can be spun into a story. We even accept geographic articles covering personal finance news in your area.

Benefit For You

Through Ballers On Budgets you can expand your brand by tapping into our network and promoting yourself via your writers profile at the end of each article. This is also a way for you to hone your skills as a writer, researcher and interviewer. We will help you develop ideas and crowd source for experts if you need it, and writing for us can lead to other paid writing jobs.

Paid Writing Opportunities

At this time we do not have any paid positions available. However, our contributors will be the first writers chosen to become paid staff writers once we launch our print magazine. If you want to get your foot in the door, contributing content to our site is the way to do so.

Contribute Content

To contribute an article to our site you can either submit a completed article to us for review, or you can send us an informal proposal (a couple paragraphs) outlining the topic you would like to write about. In your proposal include the proposed title, word length, source(s) of reference (including the name and title of an expert if applicable) and estimated time for completion. We will respond to you within 48 hours.

Paste articles and proposals in the body of an email. Use ‘new article for BOB’ as the subject line. No attachments. Using the same subject line, send infographics as jpg attachments and the link to your video hosted on the web.

All content must be original and not published anywhere else online or off.

Request Topic Starter

If you need help jump-starting the creative process, send us an email with ‘idea request’ as the subject line. Include your name, geographic location and website (if applicable) in the email. We will respond within 72 hours with a topic for you to research and write about. Disclaimer: If you request an idea from us, you must write the article for our site. By requesting an idea you agree to these terms. In order to request an idea, you must first write an article that we accept and publish.
